Finished watching the last of 4 seasons of Battlestar Galactica (2004) at 6pm. Really liked it but I am left a little empty.

Well... Where do I start? Obviously the server has been down since 2pm yesterday because of the power outage caused by Hurricane "Igor" and the power only came back today around just before 1pm. Everyone in our area lost power, and we lost our home phone, and fence (again). The fence is completely gone in the front and two sections along the side because of the wind. Ugh. Yay global warming.

Left town today to go out to Corner Brook for Grizz & Nee's wedding on the 4th. We stayed at Bell's Inn.

Went ziplining on the 3rd at Marble Zip Tours. Had an AWESOME time! We did all eight lines. Thank !@#$% for painkillers. Then there was a huge get together and Grizz & Nee's that night. Returned to Corner Brook later that night thanks to Greenfrog.

Had a great time at the wedding, and there was great weather for the ceremony and photos. Hurricane Earl hit a little after the reception started that evening but didn't do much until about 1:30am. Then the power went out at the Glynmill Inn. There were wires down and trees down everywhere. A tree apparently came down on the DJ's car and another tree of note was a huge one that fell on the roof of a house.

The next day (5th) we traveled up the northern peninsula to L'Anse aux Meadows. We ate supper at The Norseman and later stayed at the Valhalla Lodge.

On the 6th, we visited the L'Anse aux Meadows Historic Site and Norstead, the Re-creation Site on the morning of the 7th.

After that, we started our southern path back down the northern peninsula, back to pick up A-Train in Corner Brook, and on to return to the east coast.

Did a lot of driving, but all in all a good trip.

Finished reading Elfquest: Journey to Sorrow's End by Wendy & Richard Pini early this morning.

The book itself didn't seem to focus on the adventures of the Wolfriders, but more on the social interactions of the two clans and their members, especially Cutter and Leetah.

There is also a comic book series by the same name (Elfquest).

Went to see Inception with Greenfrog, Squeege and his partner Chloe.

Wasn't bad. There were some nice eye candy moments, and it had a sort of "Matrix-y" feel to it in areas. There were a few loopholes in the plot also.

Greenfrog didn't enjoy it at all, not her type of movie.

Thought it was okay. Better than I expected it to be. Some funny moments that made me LOL. I thought that too many of the action scenes were filmed too close up though.

Thought it was an alright movie, maybe not as good as the first one. Probably because I don't really click with Mickey Rourke as an actor. He plays the character ‘Ivan Vanko’ a.k.a. ‘Whiplash’. Also, they should have gotten Terrence Howard back again as ‘Lt. Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes’, even though Don Cheadle did a good job as the character.

Hollywood actor Dennis Hopper, best known for directing and starring in the 1969 cult classic "Easy Rider", died on Saturday from complications of prostate cancer, a friend of the actor said. Hopper was 74.

Actor Gary Coleman, who had suffered from a brain hemorrhage from an accident in his home Wednesday, died Friday in a Utah hospital. He was 42.

The child star of the 1970s TV sitcom "Diff’rent Strokes" died after suffering a brain hemorrhage.

Went to see Robin Hood with Greenfrog.

Not the typical storyline to the "classic" story. Starring Russell Crowe, and amazingly one of our own, Alan Doyle (Great Big Sea, on right).

I have to say I liked it, even if just because it was a more "believable" version of the story, instead of the classic, huzzah, green-tights-wearing swashbuckling style of other versions. And also additionally, because of the fact it was nice to see a Newfoundlander in a major motion picture. So I might be a bit biased there.

We're back!

This is where we stayed in Holguin, Cuba. It's the Brisas Guardalavaca.

We left on April 14th and returned today, April 21st. We got in about 4:45pm but we had to go through customs so we didn't get out of there until a little after 7:00pm.

We had two wooden pieces taken by customs because of a poisonous bean used in the decoration of the eyes of the pieces.

All in all we had a good time there.

Brought home some cigars too!

Watched Boondock Saints II - All Saints Day and Zombieland DVDs with Squeege and Chloe tonight. Greenfrog watched Zombieland with us.

BSII-ASD was alright, the directing sucked in many places though, and some of the acting by peripheral characters was questionable. Zombieland was funny but it wasn't much of a zombie movie (to me).

Went to see Blue Rodeo with Greenfrog, her cousin and his girlfriend. The Dustin Bentall Outfit opened for them.

Great show. The opening band was way better than I expected. Found out later that Dustin Bentall is Barney Bentall's son.

Went to see Avatar - in RealD 3D with Greenfrog, Squeege and his girlfriend Chloe.

Great movie. Didn't seem like 160 minutes. Loved the work they did on Sigourney Weaver and Sam Worthington's avatar characters. You knew who they were just by looking at them. The world creation was really original and unique too.

…Only there are a couple of things with the movie. It seems like the underlying story has been done many times before, and the end was a little predictable. Besides that, it was an entertaining movie. Interesting characters, great CG, emotional storytelling. (but it's not Star Wars. )
